This model
of the Cygnus, custom built for a client, was modified from the stock kit
by "stretching" it to be more correcly proportional to the film miniature.
This was done by adding an extra segment from another kit just ahead of
the centre of the ship. The model was sprayed with fluorescent paints and
the girderwork painstakingly done by hand, one rod at a time, a process
that took days! A tiny new scratchbuilt "Palomino" was also made. The Cygnus
was photographed under black light to enhance the glowing effect.
